Spetses is a small island where you you can combine relaxation, nightlife and beautiful sites. The island is so small that you can take a tour of the whole area by bike in 4-5 hours! The capital of Spetses is pretty, consisting of old buildings where a strong sailing tradition can be discerned. One of the best places to visit is the island’s main settlement which composes of Dapia, Kasteli and Old Port areas. Besides, no other settlements or villages exist on the island apart from its beautiful beaches.
While in Spetses, you can see one of the oldest lighthouses that ever operated in Greece located on the right side of the old harbor of the island of Spetses. It first operated in 1837 and is standing in an overall height of 27 meters from sea level on a beautiful hill with pine trees. Since 1986 the lighthouse is operating automatically with electric current. The next stop in Spetses is the house of national heroine of the Greek War of Independence in 1821, Bouboulina, which nowadays is a private museum open to visitors.
On the island there is a network of mountain paths and trails through the pine forest that covers the entire mountain. You will enjoy the tranquility into the natural scenery and will admire the view from above.
In this beautiful island you can find both pebble and sand beaches on Spetses. The most popular ones are Agia Paraskevi and Ag Anargyri. This island gives also the opportunity to try water sports on some of the more organized beaches, and the island also has some great spots for snorkeling. Spetses town has several bars and clubs, and there are many lovely little cafes by the harbor as well.
